Silks Level Breakdown
Intro Silks
Intro Silks is open to any beginner student – no experience necessary. In this class, students will learn poses from sitting or standing in the basket (when the silks are tied in a loop at the bottom near the ground) and the basics of how to climb, invert, and wrap their feet and wrists. All silks classes are tailored to individual skill and fitness levels with an emphasis on safety and proper technique.
Intro prerequisites:

No experience necessary​
Level 1
Level 1 is recommended for students who have some familiarity with silks or other aerial apparatuses. At this level, students will polish their silk climbs (French wrap and Russian step) and their wraps (figure 8 knots, dance locks, and wrist locks). Students will also learn how to invert and present poses and sequences, including but not limited to man in the moon, archer, side straddle, candy cane, cross-back straddle, and split rollups.
Level 1 prerequisites:

Has some experience with silks or other aerial apparatuses​
Level 2

Level 2 will focus on more complex climbs, wraps, sequences, and introductions to drops. This class is for students who meet the prerequisites and have permission from their aerial instructor.
Level 2 prerequisites:

Climb a few steps without instructor assistance

Can lock feet while in the air

Invert independently

Familiar with basic poses such as man in the moon, candy cane, and cross-back straddle
Level 3

Level 3 focuses on strength and conditioning to execute complex sequences and take safe risks by learning drops such as double star, hands-free double star, and airplane.
Level 3 prerequisites:

Can climb to the top of the silks

Familiar with climbs beyond a French wrap or Russian step, such as same-side climbs, opposite-side climbs, or double knee climbs

Invert independently multiple times during class

Comfortable with hip keys, back balance, and front balance

Some familiarity with drops
