Circus Academy's AIR Program
AIR Program: One-Week Paid Circus Artist Residency at Circus Academy New York
As part of Circus Academy New York's mission to elevate circus arts, we are dedicated to providing artists with the resources, space, and financial support they need to create, train, and showcase their work at the highest level. The AIR Program is a key part of this effort. This one-week paid residency is designed to nurture and support circus artists in their creative process, culminating in a work-in-progress showing.

During the residency, artists will have access to substantial studio space to practice, experiment, and develop new work. To help refine their vision, an experienced "outside eye" will offer feedback and guidance throughout the creation process and after the work-in-progress showing. The presentation will receive full technical support from Circus Academy New York’s team, ensuring the artist's vision is fully realized.

Additionally, resident artists will lead workshops aligned with their practice, sharing their expertise with the Academy’s community of students and fellow artists.

Luther is a juggling performer and teacher specializing in expressive juggling technique and movement. He began juggling in 2005 while studying philosophy at the University of Iowa. After graduating in 2010, he performed with the Great Bombay Circus in India. In 2012 he first encountered the worlds of both contemporary circus and street performance while performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In 2016 he moved to New York City to perform and teach, and began studies of qi gong and dance with Daria Faïn in her C O R E M O T I O N program. Luther debuted his first solo stage show, Distillations, in May 2022. He began teaching at the Circadium School of Contemporary Circus in September 2022.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Juggling Association (IJA) and is devoted to bringing juggling to new places in his own practice, in his teaching, and in the world.
